What is a SOC 2 Type I Data Security Audit?

The SOC 2 Type I information security standard is an audit report, which was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The audit examines controls relevant to the trust services criteria categories. This covers security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.

A SOC 2 Type I report describes a service organization’s systems and whether the design of specified controls meets the relevant trust services categories at a point in time. The audit is a rigorous, independent assessment of internal security controls. Because of the rigor, it validates an organization’s dedication and adherence to the highest standards for security.

Why does a SOC 2 I audit matter?

In recent years, there has been an uptick in vendor security concerns and a demand for greater transparency, which results in more requests for SOC 2 reports. The primary purpose of these reports is to support due diligence around vendor selection. It also provides ongoing monitoring of third-party vendors and partners.

Who performs the SOC 2 I audit for Mantium?

Sensiba San Filippo, LLP (SSF) conducted the audit. They are a nationally recognized CPA firm registered with the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. This audit is an attestation report. It affirms that Mantium’s information security practices, policies, procedures, and operations meet SOC 2 Trust Service Criteria.
